Today some middle schooler friends came over to do service learning work with the puppies. They played with them, bathed them, blow dried them, brushed their teeth using finger tooth brushes and made fleece dog toys from some scraps we received from friend and local designer of Periponchos. When the pups were napping the kids had an ice cream stand to make money for the Oregon Humane Society. Later all of us, humans and dogs, took the donations of hand-made toys and the proceeds of the stand to the OHS. Everyone benefited and that’s what service learning is all about.
